28 .- The Vice President of the Council of Ministers, Ricardo
Cabrisas, was received today by the member of the Political
Bureau Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China, Zhou Yongkang, in
the Great Hall of the People of the capital.
At the meeting, both sides expressed satisfaction at the
excellent state of bilateral relations and stressed the
political dialogue and exchange of high level visits as
important components of these links. Furthermore, they advocated further
strengthening ties and cooperation between the two nations.
Cabrisas explained to his host aspects of the Sixth Party
Congress, including the phases of the process of implementing
the Guidelines adopted at that meeting. The leaders also talked
about the recent creation of the Community of Latin American and
Caribbean (ECLAC), which they described as a landmark event in
the political-economic integration of the region.
The same day the Cuban leader also spoke with Vice Premier Wang Qishan, on
the development of the linkages and the celebration of the 24th session
of the Intergovernmental Commission on trade and economic relations.
Cabrisas and Wang also reported the positive results of the
collaboration this year, of which they called for further
expansion in all possible areas.
The itinerary of the Cuban delegation on Wednesday ended with
a meeting between Cabrisas and the Beijing Mayor Guo Jinlong, when
they discussed issues of cooperation between that city and
Havana, and confirmed the will of both parties to continue increasing cooperation.
