BUENOS
AIRES, December 28.— Argentinean President Cristina Fernández
assured that her government will continue to work in the same
direction, as she encouraged the Argentinean people to step up
efforts in combating social inequality, reported Europa Press.
In a public address, Fernández said that her
commitment to the people continues undiminished; and called on
Argentineans to support government programs advancing national
prosperity. Fernández made this statement a day after being
diagnosed with thyroid cancer. She will undergo surgery on
January 4, 2012.
Within this framework, Fernández attended a
formal ceremony aimed at discussing and at signing a set of
agreements strengthening economic cooperation with a number of
Argentinean provinces. The ceremony took place at the Casa
Rosada─ the official seat of the government’s executive branch─
attended by high-ranking officials and members of Fernández’
government.
Following the signing of agreements, Fernández
thanked Latin American leaders and the Argentinean people in
general for their steadfast support and solidarity.
